To apply for the Japanese Government (Monbukagaku-sho) Scholarships, follow the procedures below:

1. Application Procedure
(1) Embassy's Recommendation
Eligibility:Undergraduate students, Japanese language & culture students, research students, and teacher training students, from abroad.
Referrer :Japanese Embassy (or Consulate) in the applicants' native country.
Primary screening: By Japanese Embassy (or Consulate) in the applicants' native country.
Time of visit to Japan :April or October.

Eligibility: Research students, and Japanese language & culture students, from abroad.
Referrer : University office in charge of each undergraduate or graduate school.

Note1: These stipends will affect all Japanese Government Scholarship Students regardless of their starting year.
Note2: Students, who leave Japan for a full calendar month, will not be eligible for a stipend that month. The same principle applies to those students who take lengthy absences from their school and studies.

(4)Extension of Tenure of Scholarship
Providing that they meet the relevant requirements, undergraduate and research students who wish to proceed to a higher degree are eligible to apply for an extension of their scholarship. Qualified students who wish to proceed to a higher degree in the following year should apply through the office of their school in September-October period of the final year of the degree they are presently undertaking.. Research students should talk to their academic advisors concerning their academic plan, entrance, examination schedule and enrolment in a higher degree in order to confirm application schedules for the extension of their scholarship. Extensions are decided by the Ministry of Education (Monbukagakusho) and students are advised that, due to great demand, not all applications for extension of tenure are successful.
(4)延長(zhǎng)獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金期限
只要滿足相關(guān)條件，有意向進(jìn)一步深造的本科生和研究生都可以申請(qǐng)研究獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金期限。有意向在下一學(xué)年進(jìn)一步深造的符合條件的學(xué)生，需要于當(dāng)前學(xué)年(最后一學(xué)年)的九月和十月到所在學(xué)校的辦公室申請(qǐng)。研究生需要就學(xué)術(shù)計(jì)劃、入學(xué)、考試日程和更高學(xué)位注冊(cè)與指導(dǎo)老師協(xié)商，以便來(lái)得及申請(qǐng)延長(zhǎng)獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金限期。延長(zhǎng)申請(qǐng)由教育部決定。由于申請(qǐng)人數(shù)眾多，不保證能申請(qǐng)成功。
Note1: Undergraduate and master's course students who want to enroll in a higher degree should submit their grade point average (GPA) which should be calculated according to the Monbukagakusho methodology. The students must have the minimum GPA set by Monbukagakusho in order to apply.
Note2: Students should confirm the application process, eligibility, the details regarding the grade point averages and any other information with the office of their school.
注：(1)有意申請(qǐng)更高學(xué)位獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金的本科生和研究生需要提交平均成績(jī)，平均成績(jī)計(jì)算方法依照日本政府的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。學(xué)生需要達(dá)到最低平均成績(jī)要求才能申請(qǐng)延長(zhǎng)獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金期限。
