一、用于such…as結(jié)構(gòu)，其中的as為關(guān)系代詞
He’s not such a fool as he looks. 他并不像看上去的那樣愚蠢。
I never heard such stories as he tells. 我從未聽過他講的這種故事。
He is not half such a fool as they thought. 他遠非他們認為的那么傻。
Such women as knew Tom thought he was charming. 那些認識湯姆的女人都認為他很迷人。
Britain is not enjoying such prosperity as it was in the mid-1980s. 英國現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)不像 20 世紀 80 年代中期那么繁榮昌盛。
二、such as相當于those who
Such as alter in a moment, win not credit in a month. 那些朝令夕改的人是不會獲得人們長久信任的。
此句相當于Those who alter in a moment, win not credit in a month.
Associate with such as will improve your manners. 要和那些能提高你的禮貌修養(yǎng)的人交往。
三、such as相當于what或whatever
Such as remains after tax will be yours when I die. 我死以后全部財產(chǎn)除了交稅以外都給你。
此句相當于：
What remains after tax will be yours when I die.
Whatever remains after tax will be yours when I die.
Everything that remains after tax will be yours when I die.
四、such as 用作關(guān)系代詞，用法上相當于that或which
Then I left it, feeling a weight at my heart such as I had never had before. 然后我離開那里，心頭感到一種前所未有的沉重情緒。
There was a look of fear in her eyes, such as people have when they are suddenly awakened. 她眼睛里有一種人們突然被喚醒時產(chǎn)生的恐懼表情。
