相比其他流行出國(guó)英語(yǔ)考試，新托福的聽(tīng)力考試有以下三大特色：
特色1：無(wú)預(yù)覽
這一特色決定了考生在聽(tīng)材料時(shí)需要對(duì)局部的一些相關(guān)內(nèi)容進(jìn)行記錄，然后結(jié)合記錄的信息答題。
特色2：強(qiáng)度大
無(wú)加考狀態(tài)下的聽(tīng)力部分為60分鐘左右，其中包括2個(gè)conversations和4個(gè)lectures,這一形式對(duì)于習(xí)慣于傳統(tǒng)做題思路的學(xué)生而言無(wú)疑是一個(gè)巨大的挑戰(zhàn)。
特色3：學(xué)術(shù)化
新托福聽(tīng)力部分以學(xué)術(shù)場(chǎng)景圍繞展開(kāi)居多，主要是arts(如literature &authors, architecture), life science(如animal behavior, biochemistry), physical science(如alternative energy, weather & atmosphere), social science(如mass communication, history of urbanization & their economic and social effects)這四大類(lèi)。
