Let me take your temperature.
看醫(yī)生之前，通常要先量體溫，看看有沒有發(fā)燒，此時，護士會對你說：Let me take your temperature. (讓我替你量體溫) 。除了量體溫，也可能量血壓 (Blood pressure)，中醫(yī)師卻替病人把脈來診病，英文可以說：Feel your pulse (替你把脈) 。

Not lift/stir a finger即‘一根指頭都不動’，也就是‘什么都不做’，反詞義是work one's fingers to the bone（工作到十指見骨），例如：(1) While we worked hard, Tom would not lift a finger.（我們辛勤工作，湯姆卻一根指頭都懶得動）。(2) Is it worth working your fingers to the bone for a woman who does not love you?（為一個不愛你的女人拼命工作，值得嗎？）
Temperature是‘體溫’?！矿w溫’一般叫做to take one's temperature或to check one's temperature，例如：Your temperature can be taken orally or anally.（體溫可在口腔或肛門量度）。肛門英文叫anus，形容詞是anal。
‘發(fā)燒’有兩個常見說法：to have (got) a temperature/a fever或to run a temperature/fever。其實to have a temperature字面意思無非‘有體溫’，以‘有體溫’當作‘發(fā)燒’，是頗為奇怪的。當然，約定俗成，即不可更改，例如：You have/are running a temperature/a fever of 102℉（你發(fā)燒到了華氏一百零二度）。102℉的讀法是one hundred and two degrees Fahrenheit。
要給發(fā)燒者降溫，可用冰袋，即ice pack，例如：I applied ice packs to her forehead to bring down her fever/temperature.（我用冰袋替她敷額頭，幫她降溫）。
