（1）法庭，通常用the court來表示。比如：

（2）運(yùn)動(dòng)場(chǎng)地，通常指“網(wǎng)球場(chǎng)地”等空間比較開闊的地方。如：
He met her on the tennis court.
他與她在網(wǎng)球場(chǎng)上相遇。
（3）朝廷，宮殿，王宮，可以指建筑物，也可以指王室成員。如：
This was one of the most splendid of the royal courts of Europe.
這是歐洲壯麗的宮殿之一。

2．Highway和expressway
中國人管架設(shè)在城市之間的快速路叫做“高速公路”，于是誤以為英語里的highway就是“高速公路”，都帶一個(gè)“高”high嘛！其實(shí)不然。
Highway意思就是普通的“公路”、“干道”，為什么會(huì)高h(yuǎn)igh呢？大概是因?yàn)樾蘖烁呒軜虻脑虬?。而真正的“高速公路”，英語里叫expressway，express就是“快的”、“直達(dá)的”意思。比如：
A four-lane expressway runs straight to the capital.
一條四車道的高速公路直通首都。
我們常說得EMS，其實(shí)也就是express mail service“特快專遞服務(wù)”。
