就是我們中文所說(shuō)的“那陣風(fēng)把你吹來(lái)了”，“今天怎么有這雅興啊”，英文里，為了表示對(duì)來(lái)客的到來(lái)表示歡迎和驚喜，可以說(shuō)“what a pleasant surprise”，相當(dāng)于 “哎呀，你怎么來(lái)啦！真沒想到會(huì)在這里見到你?！?BR> 2) Catch up Catch up with someone的意思是“和某個(gè)有段時(shí)間沒見面的熟人見面，看看近他們都做了些什么”，差不多就是“聊聊天，敘敘舊”，我們可以體會(huì)一下，catch的原意是“追趕”，這里由于你們很久沒見，對(duì)于對(duì)方發(fā)生什么事情你很久沒了解了，這個(gè)時(shí)候?yàn)榱薻eep posted，你就要“迎頭趕上”去獲取對(duì)方的消息。而我們平時(shí)所說(shuō)的I’ll catch up with you later 或者I will catch you later，可以用來(lái)替代I will see/talk to you later，也正是源于此。

Play hooky (BrE play truant)是“翹課，逃課，曠工（翹班），不參加一些會(huì)議，活動(dòng)”等意思。這里指的是Dan的爸爸Rufus正事不干溜走去看Repo。例句：I played hook today and did not go to work.
事實(shí)上，play hooky 還有“爽約（to not keep an appointment)”的意思。例句： I don’t want to see her today, ‘cause I look like ---- today. So I think I will just play hooky. I don’t have time for the sales meeting today, so I think I’ll just play hooky.
讀大學(xué)的時(shí)候曾經(jīng)看過(guò)一部片子叫“翹課天才”，英文名叫“Ferris Bueller’s Day Off ”，這里day off的實(shí)際意思并不是指“逃課”，而是休息一天，不用去上班，可能是你今天輪休啊，或者今天放假啊，生病了啊。如果是請(qǐng)病假，還可以說(shuō)take a sick leave, 請(qǐng)事假可是說(shuō)take a casual leave 或者take a compassionate leave，如果是準(zhǔn)假則是“be given a leave of absence”。
