My company decided that it was time to remodel our offices and I was put in charge of getting bids from contractors.

The trouble was, I had heard horror stories from friends who did remodeling and I was worried about finding a company that would get the job done on time and under budget.
問題在于，我從不少搞過裝修的朋友那聽了很多不好的經(jīng)歷，我真是有擔(dān)心我是否能找到一個(gè)不錯(cuò)的承包商，準(zhǔn)時(shí)不超預(yù)算地完成任務(wù)。
No doubt there are many honest contractors, but some of the people I talked to had experiences with shady companies.
當(dāng)然有很多承包商是誠信的，不過很多跟我聊過的人都遇見過不誠信的公司。
Some of them weren't on the level about being able to meet deadlines and some tried to get away with murder when they billed for a job.
有些是不能按時(shí)完成任務(wù)，而有些在要帳時(shí)采用的手段非常惡劣。
It was important that I found a company that was on the up and up.
所以找一家誠信的公司對我而言很重要。
I got bids from six companies and checked all of their references.

In the end, I picked a company that had done work for one of the biggest companies in the city.

They seemed to be the best and our company hired them.
