Having sold over 20 million records worldwide, musician Yanni is no stranger to success. As one of the world’s most renowned musical innovators, his compositions can be heard almost anywhere- from the radio, to grand awards ceremonies and sporting events. We are delighted to have Yanni here in the studio with us today as he continues his world tour.
If this music sounds familiar, it’s because Yanni’s compositions have been played at sports venues and in films and TV shows for years. He was last in Shanghai two years ago, and his performance this time included some of his best-known pieces like "Santorini," as well as his new composition called "Voyage". His music combines electronic elements, contemporary classical, jazz, ethnic and other forms, and has influenced other musicians such as Enya and Secret Garden.
“I live in Nanjing, and when I knew that Yanni was here in Shanghai I immediately buy the ticket. When I’m not so happy about my life, about my work, I just go home and play his CD, because he get me calm. It’s something amazing. I like everything, especially the violin and the harps,” spectator Andrea Cabello said
“[Because] he’s an amazing musician, and he has an amazing band. Of course the violin player is one the best in the world. I’m a violinist so I have to come and see it,” Spectator Ivet Crubelo said.
Yanni’s Shanghai show is part of his "World Without Borders" tour that will also include stops in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Yanni was also one of the earliest western musicians to perform in China, and appeared with guzheng artist Chang Jing in this year’s CCTV Spring Festival Gala.
