Lesson 93 Our new neighbour 我們的新鄰居
Nigel is our new next-door neighbour. He's a pilot.
He was in the R.A.F.
He will fly to New York next month.
The month after next he'll fly to Tokyo.
At the moment, he's in Madrid. He flew to Spain a week ago.
He'll return to London the week after next.
He's only forty-one years old, and he has already been to nearly every country in the world.
Nigel is a very lucky man. But his wife isn't very lucky. She usually stays at home!
奈杰爾是我們新搬來的隔壁鄰居。他是個飛行員。
他曾在皇家空軍任職。
下個月他將飛往紐約。
再下個月他將飛往東京。
現(xiàn)在他在馬德里。他是一星期以前飛到西班牙的。

2．the month after next, 再下個月。
after next 表示“下下個”，如：
the week after next下下個星期可與一般將來時連用的時間短語
（1） this week（這周）,next week（下周）,the week after next（下下周）,this month（這個月）,next month（下個月）,the month after next（下下個月）, this year（今年）,next year（明年）,the year after next（后年）.
注：一般過去時中通常會用last一詞，而不是next.
（2） in a day's time（一天以后）, in a year's time（一年以后）, in two weeks time（兩周后）, in three months' time（3個月后）等等。．return v.
（1）回，返回：
He's just returned from abroad.
他剛從國外回來。
He'll return to London the week after next.
下下個星期他將返回倫敦。
（2）回復：
Spring will return soon.
很快就又是春天了。
He returned to his copy of the New York Times.
他又重讀起他那份《紐約時報》來。
（3）歸還；退還：
I'm going to return these books to the library.
我要把這些書還給圖書館。
I lent him my records and he never returned them!
我把自己的唱片借給他，而他卻從未歸還！
2．lucky adj.
（1）有好運的，幸運的：
Nigel is a very lucky man.
奈杰爾是個很幸運的人。
She was lucky to get such a well-paid job.
她能得到這樣一個報酬優(yōu)厚的工作真幸運。
（2）僥幸的，碰巧的：
He didn't really know the answer----it was just a lucky guess.
他并非真知道答案——那不過是個僥幸的猜測。
It's lucky he's here.
他碰巧在這兒。
