荻港人的善，有它自己的歷史淵源：相傳在南宋年間，荻港遭遇了百年難遇的旱災，恰巧有一位押糧官，押送糧食路過了荻港，發(fā)現(xiàn)荻港餓殍遍地，百姓們民不聊生，于是他善心大發(fā)，把糧食全都給了荻港百姓，為了感謝三位總管在危急時刻的救濟，知恩圖報的荻港百姓就修建了總管堂，頌揚三位總管。荻港的百姓在對自己進行善的教導行善的同時，不忘教導自己的后代要不忘善恩，齊心向善。
