Describe a short trip that was special to you.
You should say:
when it was
where you went
who you went with
and explain why it was special.
In November last year, I went to Hong Kong for the first time in my life. I have always wanted to go there because although it is part of China, Hong Kong is different from the mainland in many ways.
I went to Hong Kong with a good friend of mine; we flew there together from Beijing. On arrival at our hotel, we met with another four friends who had flown there from other cities. In fact, I had never met these four other people in person; I had heard a lot about them from my close friend and had even spoken to two of them online, but meeting them in flesh was an exciting new experience for me.

I mentioned that Hong Kong is different from mainland China. First of all, it was once a British colony, so that this Chinese city has little hints of London built into the system there. For example, they have double decker buses; miles of one-way streets and they drive on the left-hand side, just like in London. There are also many shops in Hong Kong that are uncommon in other cities like Beijing. Some of these are specialist shops, but many are just simply British or American supermarkets and food retailers - such as Marks and Spencer - that haven't yet become a common sight in mainland China.
I was so happy to have the opportunity to see Hong Kong last year, even though it was just a three-day flying visit. We spent more time enjoying our friends' company than sightseeing, as that seemed more important at the time, but I still feel like I got a strong sense of what makes Hong Kong tick. As we took the MTR to the airport, heading homeward to Beijing again, I told my friend that I loved Hong Kong so much that I would like to live there one day in future.
