2017年中考英語詞組辨析：begin/ start

Ⅰ. begin “開始”，是很普通的用語，指開始某一行動或進程，與end 相對。如：
    ① It’s time to begin work. 是開始工作的時候了。
    ② She began to work in the factory at the age of fifteen. 她十五歲開始在工廠里工作。
    ③ The meeting will begin at eight o’clock. 會議將于八點鐘開始。
    Ⅱ. start “開始”，往往與begin通用，但它著重于開始或著手這一點，與stop 相對。如：
    ① When did you start work? 你什么時候開始工作的?
    ② He started to study English. 他開始學英語。
    ③ The child started crying. 小孩哭起來了。
    [注]：表示“動身;啟程;開動(機器)”等。如：
    ①I think we ought to start at 8. 我認為我們應該8點出發(fā)。
    另外commence是三詞中最正式的，其后接動詞時只能接動詞的-ing形式。如：
    ②The Prime Minister commenced speaking 25 minutes ago. 首相是25分鐘前開始發(fā)言的。
