    1. Describe a rule at your school that you agree or disagree
    2. Describe a time you had to save money
    3. Describe a special day out which didn’t cost a lot
    4. Describe a letter that is important to you
    5. Describe a product you bought recently that you are happy with
Describe a rule at your school that you agree or disagree
    You should say:
    What is the rule
Why this rule has to be established
What will happen if we break down this rule?
What are the positive and negative effects of this rule
Speaking of a rule at my school that I disagree, the first thing that bumped into my mind is that there was a very strict rule requiring boys to have their hair cut to a certain length – in particular, I mean, to be specific, the hair had to be at least one inch above the collar. I was at a boy school so it didn’t apply to any girls, which was enforced by a teacher who had the job of walking around every Wednesday and checking boys’ hairstyles. I don’t know when the rule was made, but it was a very traditional school and it was a pretty old rule. I think it was standard for that kind of school. At the time, I didn’t like the rule because, like all the other boys, I really wanted to be, err, to have long hair. We thought that hair, long hair, looked good on men. This was in the 1970s when men all had shoulder-length hair and we were saturated with images of men with hair that was shoulder length or longer, – actors, pop stars, even the politicians. If you look back now, you can see that all of the men at that time had quite long hair. At the time I thought it was an unnecessary rule, and I was mortified on the day when I was given a haircut when the teacher caught me with my hair being too long. The school used to hire an army barber to come in and cut people’s hair if they were, uh, if they were caught breaking the rule. At the time, the school used to talk about encouraging a polite attitude, encouraging a civilized attitude, but I didn’t respect that.

    Passage 1:
    題目:The Baobabs of Madagasgar 猴面包樹
    1. FALSE。All Baobabs can be found here.
    2. FALSE。Can be found in most areas.
    3. NOT GIVEN。A and Grandielir is the first botanist to study…
    4. TRUE。
    5. TRUE。Baobads provide valuable products to the local people.
    Marondava area:
    7. water

Grandidier's baobabs have massive, cylindrical, long, thick, trunks, up to three meters across, covered with smooth, reddish-grey bark. They can reach 25 to 30 m (82 to 98 ft) in height. At certain times of the year the flat-topped crowns bear bluish-green palmate leaves, dark brown floral buds or spectacular flowers with white petals. The large, dry fruits of the baobab contain kidney-shaped seeds within an edible pulp.
The long-lived Grandidier's baobab is in leaf from October to May, and flowers between May and August. The flowers, said to smell of sour watermelon, open just before or soon after dusk, and all the pollen is released during the first night. The tree is pollinated by nocturnal mammals, such as fork-marked lemurs and insects like the Hawk Moth. The lemurs move through the canopies, inserting their snouts into the white flowers and licking nectar from the petal bases, resulting in pollen being deposited in the lemurs' faces, whereas the moth is slightly more effective at pollination because it is able to fly from tree to tree with most of its body covered in pollen.
The species bears ripe fruit in November and December. Unlike the baobabs of Africa and Australia, it appears that the seeds of the tasty fruit are not dispersed by animals. Lemurs are the only living animals on Madagascar that are capable of acting as seed dispersers, yet seed dispersal by lemurs has never been documented. In the past, however, this could have been very different. There are several species that have gone extinct since human colonization of the island (1,500 to 2,000 years ago) that could very likely have been dispersers of the seeds. This includes species of primates that were thought to be similar to baboons, and the heaviest bird that ever lived, the elephant bird, which had a powerful beak that could have opened large fruit. Today, water may be the means by which the seeds are dispersed.
Lack of water can sometimes be a problem for plants in Madagascar. It appears that the baobab overcomes this by storing water within the fibrous wood of the trunk, as the tree's diameter fluctuates with rainfall.

People today can shop, work and communicate with others via the Internet. They don't need to do these face to face.Is it a positive or negative development?
    Word count (332)
The advent of Internet has shaped many facets of our lives, such as the way we do the shopping, work and connect with each other. It is unfair and unjustifiable to assert that this change is favorable or not, and case-to –case analysis is required.
The advance in technology, by and large, brings some benefits at first glance, so does the Internet. The geographical barrier has been removed because we are linked with signals which are transmitted by satellites and cables, facilitating the efficiency of work and daily life. With the platform of Internet, multinational companies can easily hold some cross-border teleconferences and the information or the policies can be more efficiently circulated between the headquarters and subsidiary companies. The individuals can also enlarge their social networking via some social websites such as Twitter and Facebook, in which they are more likely to make friends from all walks of life and different corners of the world. Besides, online shopping website also provide accessibility and affordability for people, with a wide range of goods to choose from.
At second thought, the downsides of Internet cannot be cast aside. Working staff are more separated than ever before, a phenomenon that will erode the sense of belongings and emotional bond with employees. The interpersonal relationship, on one hand, is expanded, on the other hand, it is maintained in a quite superficial and loose way, because individuals are bereft of the chance to have face-to-face communication. In this way, their subtle emotions can be hardly conveyed through their body languages and the words on the Internet cannot express some feelings. In terms of shopping, the customers have fat chance to have a touch with the physical commodities, needless to say detect whether the goods are fake or not.
In conclusion, it is irrational for us to label the attribution of the Internet, because technology is, on most occasions, a means we can resort to, not a sage we can praise or a scapegoat we can blame.
