1. step on it 快一點，加快速度 Step on it？你要踩什么？Oh, no.并不是，我們著急的時候會用step on it 來表明想快一點。這是因為step on it 就是踩油門的意思，表示加速，就是快一點啦。例如：
If we don't step on it, we will be late. 如果不快一點的話，我們就要遲到了 We are really running late now, Larry. We better step on it! 我們真的要遲到了拉瑞，快點開??！
2. under the table 見不得人的交易 這個習慣用語可不僅僅是“在桌子下面”哦。Under the table在桌子下面進行的交易，也就是不能見人的，而且往往是非法的。如果我們想表達某件事情通過不光彩的交易成功了，就可以用under the table。例如：
I've been applying a liquor license for a year, but this guy gets one in two months. I'm sure he must have paid the official under the table. 我申請賣酒許可已經一年了，但這個人兩個月就拿到了。他肯定私下賄賂當官的了。
3. turn into a pumpkin 到時間睡覺了 “變成南瓜”？當然不是。這是一個幽默的說法，在日常對話中常用來暗示時間太晚了，該回家睡覺了。例如：
I really had a wonderful time tonight but it's time for me to turn into a pumpkin. 我們今天晚上確實玩得很開心，但是我該回家了。 另外，這個表達后面還可以接具體時間來說明某人通常幾點睡覺。
I usually turns into a pumpkin at 11p.m., so don't call me after that. 我通常十一點睡覺，所以這之后不要給我打電話。
4. over the moon 欣喜萬分 可不是“登月”哦。這個表達來自于一首兒歌，意思是興高采烈，欣喜若狂，遇到任何高興的事都可用over the moon來表達興奮的心情。例如：
She is over the moon about her promotion. 她升職了，可把她高興壞了。 Over the moon也常用在體育賽事中，例如贏得比賽之后的欣喜若狂： The whole team is over the moon at winning the competition. 全隊因贏得這場比賽而歡呼雀躍。
5. have a fit 發(fā)脾氣，暴怒 看到fit是不是就以為跟試穿有關呢？這個常用語可跟“試穿”相去甚遠。請看下面這個對話：
A：Larry，what were you thinking of! Why didn’t you pull over out there?
B：Sorry, I missed the turn. We can turn around and go back. There's no need to have a fit.
A：拉瑞，你想什么呢！為什么不在那停車？
B：不好意思啊，我忘記轉彎了。我們可以倒回去，沒必要發(fā)脾氣吧。
所以，have a fit 就是發(fā)脾氣，大發(fā)雷霆的意思，也可以加一些形容詞或者名詞使用，例如：

6. written in the stars 無法改變，命中注定的 我們應該知道那部出名的電影The Fault in Our Stars（《星運里的錯》），在英美文化中，星星象征夢想與希望，同時，星星也常和“古老、永恒”等概念聯(lián)系在一起，滿天的繁星在我們看來總是遙不可及，因此written in the stars 用來指冥冥之中早已注定的、無法改變的事，通常形容愛情。例如：
It’s all written in the stars that we are left alone in this bus. 能單獨乘坐同一輛車真是緣分啊。 Fate has brought them together –it is all written in the stars. 是命運將他們安排在了一起，一切都是命中注定。
7. a long shot 機會不大 字面意思是“距離遠的射擊”，這個表達起源于打槍，*剛剛出現(xiàn)時，準性很差，距離稍微遠一點就打不中目標?，F(xiàn)在英語口語中一般用來表達渺小的機會，意思就是實現(xiàn)此事的機會不大。例如：
Well, it is a long shot, but I have to try it. 恩，估計成功的可能性很小，但是我必須試一試。 It's a long shot for you to win the election this time. 這次你勝選的可能性不太大。
