in case用作副詞性短語(yǔ)
in case用作副詞時(shí)，其意為“以防萬(wàn)一”。如：
Better take an umbrella in case. 帶把傘，以防下雨。
The dog was chained, but I carried a stick in case. 狗是用鏈條鎖住的，但我?guī)е桓髯右苑廊f(wàn)一。
注：
in case的副詞性用法，可視為其后省略了一個(gè)目的狀語(yǔ)從句，其意為表示“以防有什么情況”。如：
The sun is shining, but I'll take an umbrella just incase (it should rain). 現(xiàn)在是晴天，但我還是帶上雨傘以防萬(wàn)一。
The bus is usually on time, but start early, just in case (you are late). 公共汽車一般是準(zhǔn)時(shí)的，但還是早一點(diǎn)走好，以防有什么情況。
