1.only 要是…就好了(表示愿望)(=I wish, 虛擬語(yǔ)氣特殊句型)(it would be better if...)
（1）If only we had't spent so much money on our vacation this year.
要是我們今年度假時(shí)沒(méi)有花這么多錢(qián)就好了!
（2）If only, had't caused so much trouble to the dean!
要是我沒(méi)給主任添這么多麻煩就好了!
（3）A:I wish my hair was longer.
A:我希望頭發(fā)長(zhǎng)一些。
B:Yes, pity you had it cut. If only you had listened to me.
B:的確，真可惜你已經(jīng)剪短了。要是你當(dāng)初能聽(tīng)我的話(huà)就好了。
2.in time 及時(shí)，及時(shí)趕上做
例句：（1）Shouldn't we call now if we are going to get a taxi in time?
如果我們想及時(shí)叫輛出租的話(huà)，我們不該現(xiàn)在就打電話(huà)嗎?
（2）You won't be able to get to the airport in time to catch that plane at four o'clock.
你不會(huì)及時(shí)趕到機(jī)場(chǎng)去趕四點(diǎn)的那班飛機(jī)的。
（3）I saw the pitcher of water about to fall. but I couldn't reach it in time.
我看見(jiàn)那水罐就要倒了，可是沒(méi)來(lái)得及抓住。
3.miss v. 未擊中，未抓住;錯(cuò)過(guò)，未趕上;未理解;惦念，想念;逃脫，遺漏，省掉
miss by (time)差...沒(méi)趕上(miss sth.with a delay of...)
（1）You just misssd the nine-thirty bus by five minutes.
你差5分鐘沒(méi)趕上9:30的公共汽車(chē)。
（2）I missed the flight by half an hour.
我晚了半小時(shí)沒(méi)趕上飛機(jī)。
4.regard v./n. 1.把……看作;認(rèn)為2.看待;對(duì)待
regard as(consider, think of…as, accept as, take as)看作，認(rèn)為，當(dāng)作
例句：Many of us tend to regard emotions as interfering with rational thought.
我們中的很多人往往認(rèn)為感情會(huì)干擾人的理性思考。

例句：With regard to your request to retire, we have discussed it with the manager.

例句：You said you didh't care very much for your job.
你說(shuō)過(guò)你不太喜歡你的工作。
3.declare vt. 宣布，聲明，表明
declare 申報(bào)攜帶物品(make a report of one's special belongings taken on the trip)
例句：（1）Do you have anything to declare?
你有什么需要申報(bào)的嗎?
（2）The goods you have declared are far in excess of your allowances.
你所申報(bào)的物品已遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)超過(guò)了限定標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。
4.feel vi./vt. 觸摸，感覺(jué);認(rèn)為，以為
look/feel blue心情不好
例句：Now my girlfriend has left me，things are looking blue.
我女朋友離開(kāi)了我，我的情緒很是低落。
5.gold n. 金，黃金;金黃色
a heart of gold 金子般的心(是說(shuō)某人心特好，特慷慨大度。of gold是英文中的一個(gè)修辭手法.叫metaphor，中文意為暗喻，比喻東西很好都可以用這個(gè)暗喻)
例句：She has a voice of gold. Nobody could be more generous than Mrs.Jones. She really has a heart of gold.
她的聲音特好聽(tīng)。沒(méi)有人會(huì)比瓊斯夫人更慷慨了，她有一顆金子般的心。
6.hand n. 手;指針;雇員;幫助，幫手
have a hand in 參與做…
例句：She had a hand in this project.
她也參與了這個(gè)課題。
on the one hand...on the other hand… 一方面…另一方面(for one thing...for another.)
例句：On the one hand, one rule limits the women's colleges to 300, and on the other hand, another rule allows the total number of women to be 1/5 of the male undergraduate population.
一方面規(guī)定在校的女生效限于300人，另一方面，又一規(guī)定允許女生總數(shù)占男生總數(shù)的l/5。
hand out 分發(fā)出去
例句：The school bus drivers cire handing out schedules.
校車(chē)司機(jī)把時(shí)刻表分發(fā)出去。
short handed 人手不夠
例句：the cafeteria is short handed so we'll have to wait in line.

例句：（1）She's decided she'd rather have Fridays off instead.
她決定寧愿星期五休息。
（2）It will be nice having Fridays off next semester.
下學(xué)期星期五沒(méi)課真好。
3.imagine vt.想象，設(shè)想，以為
例句：I don't imagine/guess/suppose/expect 我認(rèn)為…不(I don't think)
例句：（1）I don't imagine you have the interest in attending the lecture on sculpture.
我認(rèn)為你對(duì)上雕塑課不感興趣。
（2）A:Good news! The history test has been cancelled.
A:好消息!歷史測(cè)驗(yàn)被取消了。
B:I don't suppose we are so lucky.
B:我想我們不會(huì)如此幸運(yùn)的。
（3）A:The trip will take us at least a week.
